The Nostalgia’s Call

My name is Gemma, I’m 26 years old, and I live in France. I discovered photography with my best friend from high school when we would hang out after class. At the end of high school, my father-in-law gave me and my family a trip to Thailand—it was my first time leaving Europe. For the occasion, he lent me a small compact camera, and I started photographing everything around me. Discovering Asia shook my foundations and my understanding of life. I think I realised at that moment that experiences alone might never feel enough; this camera in my hand was a way of capturing life, holding onto it, witnessing what we’d lived, never doubting it despite the passage of time.
