Memories Collector as a Lifestyle

Silvia González de las Heras, 25 years old, living in Norway: I treat photography not just as a hobby but as a lifestyle. I consider myself a collector of memories. Many times you don’t need inspiration to take pictures, you just need to go out and enjoy life.

My name is Silvia González, I’m 25 years old, and I’m passionate about photography.

I was born and raised in Spain, and now I live in Norway with my partner Raúl. Some time ago, we decided to look for a new opportunity abroad, and of course, I decided to take my travel companion, the Olympus PEN camera, with me.

My interest in photography started when I was a little girl and saw my father enjoying photography. We used to go hiking together on weekends in search of the best picture. I have great memories of those old days. I remember the feeling when he would lend me his professional Olympus E5 camera and teach me to see the beauty of the little things in the world through the viewfinder of the camera, and it was so great!

That passion that my father taught me as a child, I have carried over to the rest of my hobbies. My camera has become my indispensable companion wherever I go. I always carry it with me, it’s so small and versatile that it fits perfectly in any bag. I go for a coffee in a lovely café, to an antique and book shop, for a drink with friends in the city centre or just for a walk in the park. You don’t have to worry about being inexperienced in photography or not immediately getting the result you want. Everything takes time. The best thing is that the Olympus PEN cameras have an automatic mode, so if you are starting in photography and just want to have some fun, it’s the perfect way to start.

For me, photography is a connecting element between all my hobbies, giving them a sense of each other, creating unforgettable moments and sweet memories. For example, I love to cook, and I always have my camera around me in the kitchen after finishing a dish to immortalize it for my family recipe book.
